About this Event

Reduce Food Noise
Guided Group Hypnosis in Downtown Toronto (to join virtually, please refer to the FAQ)

A guided group hypnosis session designed to help you reduce preoccupation with food, respond differently to emotional triggers, and make healthier choices with less internal struggle.

Most people who struggle with eating habits do not lack information.

They generally know which foods are more nourishing, what a reasonable portion looks like, and that regular movement is beneficial. The difficulty arises when food becomes more than food.

It becomes comfort after a difficult day. A reward for getting through work. A distraction from boredom. Relief from stress. Something to look forward to when little else feels satisfying. Or simply an automatic response to seeing, smelling, or thinking about something appealing.

This session uses hypnosis to help create more space between an urge and your response—so that thoughts about food do not have to occupy so much of your attention or determine what you do next.

This session may be especially helpful if you:

  • Think about food more often than you would like
  • Eat in response to stress, boredom, loneliness, frustration, or fatigue
  • Continue eating after you are physically satisfied
  • Find yourself snacking automatically or without much enjoyment
  • Use food as a reward, comfort, or way to decompress
  • Experience strong cravings for sugar or highly palatable foods
  • Frequently abandon healthy intentions after one imperfect choice
  • Want to eat more deliberately without becoming obsessive or restrictive
  • Struggle to follow routines around meals, movement, or self-care

You may attend with a specific pattern in mind or simply work on developing a calmer, more intentional relationship with food.

What to Expect

The session begins with a brief introduction to the evening’s theme. Participants may suggest particular patterns they would like addressed, such as emotional eating, evening snacking, cravings, overeating, eating too quickly, difficulty stopping, inconsistent motivation, or all-or-nothing thinking.

You will then be guided through a shared hypnosis experience centred on ideas such as:

  • A craving is an experience, not a command.
  • Food can be enjoyable without becoming your primary source of comfort.
  • You can notice hunger and satisfaction more clearly when you slow down.
  • You do not have to eat simply because food is present, available, or being offered.
  • Temporary stress or discomfort does not always require immediate relief.
  • One unplanned choice does not invalidate the choices that follow it.
  • Caring for your body is more useful than criticizing or fighting against it.
  • Healthy behaviour becomes more sustainable when it reflects self-respect rather than punishment.
  • You can choose food according to both immediate enjoyment and your longer-term interests.

Depending on the needs of the group, the session may also address motivation to prepare meals, enjoyment of movement, eating as a reward, social eating, impulsive food purchases, or the tendency to begin again “tomorrow.”

The exact content varies slightly from one session to another, while the central purpose remains the same: helping food become a more proportionate part of your life.

A Different Approach to Weight Management

Many attempts at weight management create a cycle of strict rules, temporary compliance, inevitable deviation, self-criticism, and abandonment.

This session takes a different approach.

The goal is not to make you afraid of food, eliminate enjoyment, or demand perfect behaviour. It is to reduce the amount of negotiation, emotional urgency, and mental attention surrounding eating.

When food is no longer required to solve every uncomfortable feeling, healthier choices can begin to feel less like deprivation and more like ordinary self-care.

Hypnosis is used to reinforce attitudes and behavioural responses that support this process. It does not replace nutrition, medical care, or the practical realities of changing one’s lifestyle.

Who Can Attend?

No previous experience with hypnosis is required. You may participate quietly, and you will not be required to disclose your weight, eating habits, or personal circumstances to the group.

Each session stands on its own. You are welcome to attend once or return regularly to reinforce the ideas and apply them to different situations.

This session is intended for everyday habits, cravings, emotional eating, and weight-management goals. It is not treatment for an eating disorder and is not a substitute for individualized medical, nutritional, or psychological care where that is needed.
