A conversation with UPMC's STAR Center on recognizing the warning signs of teen depression, anxiety, and suicide risk.
About this Event

Depression, anxiety, and thoughts of suicide can show up quietly in teenagers, and knowing what to look for can make all the difference. Join us for a conversation with UPMC's Services for Teens at Risk (STAR) Center, a program built to help prevent adolescent suicide through both clinical care and community outreach.

Paula S. McCommons, Ed.D., L.P.C. will walk us through the warning signs parents, caregivers, and youth workers should watch for, the treatment and support options available for at-risk youth and their families, and how to connect a struggling teen to help quickly. Come with your questions and leave better equipped to support the young people in your life.

This event is part of CHAPEL's Mental Wellness Series, presented in partnership with A Second Chance, Inc. and funded by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.

Walk-ups are welcome and refreshments will be provided. Questions? Email Linda Kent at [email protected].
