DANCERS: MARK & SIA
As a partnership, Mark and Sia value community building by sharing their passion for dancing. With a combined experience of 43 years of partner dancing and 37 years of teaching, they have developed a heartfelt approach to sharing dance and incorporate creative techniques to engage and inspire their students. Moved by music as a source of creative expression, Mark and Sia approach each dance as a new canvas to paint.
Mark & Sia come to us from the Bay, where they both teach and mentor at the Fusion Dance Academy.

FUSION WORKSHOP
Sia & Mark will take us through an arc of learning for the afternoon through 2 topics that convey Fusion principles and technique catered especially for the Pulse scene, suitable for beginners and helpful for all-levels!
Part 1: Smooth Stepping – Travel the Floor Like a Four-Legged Creature
Glide, flow, move, and connect with your partner as one on the dance floor. This class focuses on “Smoothstepping” - how to travel seamlessly while maintaining connection. We’ll unlock the secret to dancing with grace and style through refined footwork, leg displacement variations, and musicality. Whether you want to elevate your Fusion Dance repertoire or simply feel more fluid in motion, this class will add silky finesse to your movement. Join us to expand your artistic expression and bring more creativity to your dance.
Part 2: Precision & Flow – Mastering Technique for Confident Dancing
Solid technique fuels creativity and artistic expression. This class equips dancers with the tools to expand their movement vocabulary, cultivate their skills, and build confidence in their connection and creativity. We’ll focus on two dynamic movements and their variations, designed to enhance dance technique and deepen the understanding of lead and follow principles. Rather than just “getting the move,” you’ll develop the skills to apply these techniques seamlessly in any dance situation. Perfect for dancers looking to refine their craft and expand their repertoire.
This workshop is meant to bring dancers of different levels together, and be accessible to all. And, this class will be better incorporated by folx who already have at least some basic experience in a partner dancing style (such as Fusion, Zouk, Swing, etc), as those principles will not be covered in depth, here.

MUSICIAN: FEVERKIN
Feverkin is the musical alias and primary studio project of Adam Orfale, who creates instrumentally forward downtempo dance music by collaging organic sounds.
He has shared the stage alongside artists like Frameworks, Yaima, and Desert Dwellers, and at events such as Backwoods Music Festival, Bay Area Microfusion and Recess.
In the last ten years, his music has mixed various electronic styles with strong emotional and cinematic sounds, creating a unique blend of melody and rhythm while keeping his classical background.
Feverkin is working on a new album, "Through the Night, into the Morning." It will have two parts featuring both ambient, flowing songs and upbeat tracks.

WHAT'S A PRACTICA?
People bring forth their specific inquiries into the relationship of a dance, such as "I really want to practice this (thing from the workshop, or keeping my frame relaxed, or making eye contact, etc...)" - or maybe you just want to "experiment" and this person goes along for the ride with you while they also "try something out" for themselves. And, you have the opportunity to receive feedback/reflections (during the dance, afterwards) for how it was received or perceived, if you want that. This is not so much a conversation space - it's a dancing space where conversation is welcome to be in service of approaching the dance, together.
We'll have multiple experienced dancers in our PULSE community designated as "resources" during this "practice" space, who are available to dance with and offer some reflections, when asked for. People can also dance with whoever, carrying the same intention to help each other fine tune our dances. People switch partners whenever it flows for them, not bound to do so song-by-song.
