Leather Working: Tote Bag

In this five hour long class you will be making a small tote bag, similar to the ones in the photo, with a single handle and the option to add a strap on the sides in the future. We will be learning skills such as how to use a pattern, cut a hide, adding simple stamping, dyeing, and finally assembly. We will be stitching by hand and once you get the hang of it, it becomes very meditative.

1. Designing patterns
2. Cutting material
3. Tooling
4. Dying
5. Finishing
6. Assembly

Materials fee: $40 (Pay to instructor at beginning of class.)

About the instructor:

As a multi-medium artist with their history in dance, performance, and film, Alea has spent the last five years working on less ephemeral arts. Using the hands to create designs for utility, play, and medicine. They are most content when synthesizing curiosity and practice across fine + industrial arts, sciences + myth, and movement + performance.
