About this Event

Poetry doesn’t wait for permission. Neither should you.

Join us for a pop-up poetry performance inside The Wake-Up Call, Thomas Joseph Ross’s exhibition of mixed-media works exploring identity and the act of becoming.

Whether you’re taking your first step or your hundredth toward becoming who you always wanted to be, this exhibition holds up a mirror—and asks what you left behind to get here.

Wander through the exhibition between 6:30 and 8:30 PM and you won’t just see the work—you’ll hear the essence of it.

Local poets will move through the gallery, delivering spontaneous, unannounced pieces in response to the art and their own reckonings with becoming. This is how transformation actually happens: unscheduled, unscripted and rarely convenient.

There is no stage. No set schedule. No polite introductions.

A poet may begin speaking beside you while you’re studying a piece, across the room while you’re mid-conversation, or right as you’re about to leave.

Stay. Walk on. Come back.

This is meant to be met on your terms.
