Park Ridge Friends of the Parks is gearing up for the 13th Annual Pedals for the Parks Bike and Trike Resale event!
This popular event starts off on Saturday, April 11 with a bike donation collection from 9:00am to Noon at the Centennial Aquatic Center located at 100 S. Western Ave. in Park Ridge. The Friends of the Parks accepts bicycles for all ages, tricycles, and bike trailers. Donations should be in ridable condition or just needing minor repairs, such as a tune up, tire tube replacement, or chain replacement. Plastic ride-on toys and scooters will not be accepted. All who donate will receive a receipt to bring back to the Sale which entitles them to a 20% discount on the purchase of a bike and early shopping privileges from 9:00am - 10:00am at the Sale.
The Friends of the Park cleans the dust and dirt off the donated bikes, fills the tires with air, and prices the donations for resale at the Sale event held two weeks later on Saturday, April 25 in the parking lot in front of the Centennial Aquatic Center, 100 S. Western Ave. The Sale opens to the general public at 10:00am and ends at 12:30pm. Cash, credit card, and Zelle are accepted payment methods. Any unsold bikes are donated to Working Bikes, a non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue discarded bicycles and give them new life by redistributing them as tools of empowerment in local and global communities.
Advocate Children’s Hospital will also be at the Sale with their bike helmet fitting and sale. Bike helmets, for both adults and children, are just $11 per helmet payable by cash or check.
The Donation Collection is held rain or shine. In case of severe weather, the Sale will be rescheduled to Sunday, April 26.
The Park Ridge Friends of the Parks is the fundraising organization to support the Park Ridge Park District in providing quality recreational resources for all citizens of Park Ridge and to preserve our green spaces. Proceeds from the event benefits the Park Ridge Park District facilities and programs. For further information about the Pedals for the Parks event, please visit www.prfriendsoftheparks.org.
