Vivien Leigh stars as Blanche DuBois, a fading and fragile Southern belle who's not quite what she purports to be. She travels to the French Quarter in New Orleans to stay with her pregnant sister, Stella (Kim Hunter), and her temperamentally explosive husband, Stanley (Marlon Brando). Elia Kazan directed this Southern Gothic masterpiece based on the Tennessee Williams play. Relative newcomer Brando made a sensation for his groundbreaking acting performance, but Vivien Leigh WAS Blanche in a performance just as riveting.
