A commemorative service will be held on Parihaka Day to honour the historical events of 5 Nov 1881, the Crown invasion of the peaceful Taranaki village of Parihaka and its leaders' commitment to the philosophy of peace and reconciliation through non-violence. There will be waiata/songs, karakia/prayers, readings, and a short play. This free event is open to the public. All warmly welcome.
