Join us for a heritage walk through Shahjahanabad (Purani Delhi) as we revisit the now-shut, iconic cinema halls that shaped India’s love affair with films since Independence. Each hall had its own personality—its loyal audience, favourite production houses, and directors who swore by it.
We’ll explore stories of legendary screenings, star visits, and how many of these halls began as theatre spaces, later transforming into talkies when sound entered cinema. Today, most stand silent and anonymous—but their stories are anything but.
