and historic neighborhoods in Cleveland!
About this Event
The interactive walking tours are led by knowledgeable guides that will share fascinating facts about historical assets and key figures that helped make Cleveland a special place. You'll learn about architecture, cultural and neighborhood development, historic preservation, and Cleveland's role in American history. Along the way, you'll meet important figures from Cleveland’s past, portrayed by actors and actresses, who will share their stories with you.
About the tour: In the early 19th century two competing settlements vied for prestige and investment on both sides of the Cuyahoga River; Cleveland to the east and Ohio City (or City of Ohio as it was known at its 1818 founding) to the west. Ohio City’s early civic, religious, ethnic, and commercial history was significant. Its historic architecture and the diversity of the urban environment has brought new vitality to the neighborhood.
Hingetown Route
The Hingetown route explores Ohio City’s northern edge along Detroit and Franklin, where 19th-century commercial corridors and residential streets reflect the neighborhood’s early growth and character. Historic buildings have been carefully restored and is now a charming neighborhood where the past continues to shape its present-day energy.
The Ohio City: Hingetown Tour meets on Tuesday at 6 pm at Lekko Coffee (2529 Detroil Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44113). Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour starts promptly.
