About this Event

The interactive walking tours are led by knowledgeable guides that will share fascinating facts about historical assets and key figures that helped make Cleveland a special place. You'll learn about architecture, cultural and neighborhood development, historic preservation, and Cleveland's role in American history. Along the way, you'll meet important figures from Cleveland’s past, portrayed by actors and actresses, who will share with you their stories.

The Cleveland Centre Historic District tour meets outside . Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour starts promptly.

About the Tour: Discover the roots of Cleveland’s commercial and industrial legacy in the Cleveland Centre Historic District, located in The Flats. Once envisioned as the city’s central hub, this area’s strategic position along the Cuyahoga River fueled early growth through waterways, canals, and railroads. Learn about the ambitious—but ultimately unsuccessful—Gravity Place Plan and how transportation and trade shaped the district’s development. You'll also hear stories of shifting priorities over time, from industrial might to environmental recovery and recreation, including rowing, skateparks, and green space revitalization. Along the way, we'll reflect on how history, preservation, and community investment continue to shape this evolving corner of Cleveland.

RESERVATIONS are requested but not required, walk-ups the day of tour are welcomed.
