About this Event
Of Liberty and Landscapes
Before they were revolutionary leaders, diplomats, and presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin passionately identified as farmers, gardeners, and stewards of the land. For these men, agriculture was not merely a livelihood or a hobby; it was the bedrock of independence and a powerful tool for defining a new nation.
This program explores the deep botanical connections between the Founding Fathers and how they used the unique flora of the American continent to shape a distinct national identity.
