About this Event
We're celebrating Asian Heritage month with a special event! No Pressure Cookbook Club and eikcam ceramics are teaming up for 4 sessions. We'll be cooking through two cookbooks: Kristina Cho's Mooncakes & Milk Bread and Clarice Lam's Breaking Bao: 88 Bakes and Snacks from Asia and Beyond, having a Botanical Tea Tasting and making tea pets in clay.
Your ticket includes entry to the event, a tea tasting, and a clay workshop. Choose from one of 4 slots:
May 23, 11:00AM
May 23, 3:00PM
May 24, 11:00AM
May 24, 3:00PM
Pick a recipe, cook it at home, and bring it to share! Please sign up with the intention to cook and bring a dish to the gathering. We'll be sharing everything potluck-style. You can select your recipe at checkout! To preview the list, take a look here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JhBHXBdTPX39Wv1inlFa_kwzxFdlNYA4EFJS44sWh38/edit?usp=sharing
The Botanical Tea Tasting is offered by Grace Lee of eikcam ceramics, a newly minted certified Herbals & Infusions Specialist. She will be guiding patrons through a sensory based tasting of 3-4 in-house blended botanical teas inspired by different regions of Asia. We will be sipping on bright and crisp teas with Yuzu and Asian Pear to warming smooth teas with Cardamom, Saffron and Ginger.
After our feast, we will be guided to create your own tea pet with clay.
A tea pet is a tea spirit or companion sculpted in raw clay reflecting its owner's personality. You can share your tea by pouring some over your tea pet which will patina over time with all the lovely teas you 'feed' it. Tea pets are traditionally left plain, but we will have a selection of underglazes ( dry glazes ) available to paint and personalize your pet.
Pick up will be two weeks following the event after all of your tea pets have been fully dried and fired in our kilns.
