Sweat Lodge Ceremony in Gold Hill, Colorado
Date: Sunday, January 12th, 2024
Location: The Gold Hill Kiva (GOLD HILL COLORADO)
Theme: "The Medicine Wheel Within You"
Explore balance and mindfulness in your life through ceremony, teachings, and community.
Guiding Principles:
Forgiveness: Acknowledging and apologizing for moments of imbalance.
Health: Practicing mindfulness in eating, drinking, and movement. Take time for yourself, even if it’s just a walk around the block.
Sensitivity & Service: Extending care to those in need.
Ceremony Details:
9:00 AM: Arrival for firewood preparation and lodge setup.
10:00 AM: Gathering in the Kiva to discuss "The Medicine Wheel Within You"—a theme exploring inner balance and mindfulness.
11:30 AM: Sweat Lodge Ceremony led by Jeffrey Many Hats, with support from Kris, Amara, Alyssa, and the local sangha.
Overnight Accommodations:
The Kiva will remain warm and welcoming for those participating in both the sweat lodge and the evening teachings.
Suggested Donation:
A minimum of $30 is appreciated to support firewood, supplies, and preparation efforts.
Additional Donations: Welcome to support teachings and Kiva maintenance (a donation box will be available in the Kiva).
COVID Precautions:
Please exercise caution and mindfulness in the days leading up to the event.
Attire:
Modest, non-revealing clothing is required:
Men: Baggy swimsuit or shorts.
Women: Long cotton dress or a T-shirt with shorts.
Please bring a towel. (And don't panic!)
Heat Sensitivity:
If the lodge becomes too intense, you are welcome to step out and continue your prayers by the fire or in the Kiva. Re-entry is always welcome.
Potluck Meal:
After the ceremony, we’ll share a community meal. Please bring a dish to share (meat is okay).
Looking Ahead:
We will discuss the possibility of hosting a Zoom meeting for continued sharing and connection. Wednesdays at 7:30 PM (following the 4–6 PM meditation group and meal) currently work well for Kris and me. This time and date will be finalized during the event.
