Meet up location: Park Visitor Center | 2900 Tom Mays Access Rd
This hike takes us into the heart of the Franklin Mountains, with incredible desert scenery, rocky terrain, and beautiful views along the way. On this 4.5 mile round trip we will climb toward the gap, we’ll experience some of the unique geology and natural features that make our home such an amazing place.
Distance: 4.5 miles
Duration: ~4 hours
Difficulty: Strenuous
Best for: Children 10 and over
IMPORTANT: Can be steep and get rocky in some areas of the trail.
Requirements & What to Bring
- 3-4 liters of water
- Healthy snacks or energy bars
- Hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers
- Hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses
- Light jacket and small backpack
