Don't throw it away—repair it!
About this Event

Join us for an evening of practical sewing skills, creative problem-solving, and community care. This hands-on mending workshop is designed for anyone who wants to extend the life of their clothing while learning foundational sewing techniques.

Participants are encouraged to bring one or two garments in need of repair. We'll begin with a sewing machine demonstration covering machine setup, threading, and straight stitching, followed by guided practice to help everyone become comfortable using the equipment.

After introductions, each participant will have the opportunity to share what they brought and the story behind it. Together, we'll explore repair options and spend the remainder of the workshop working on mending projects with individualized guidance and support.

Whether you're fixing a favorite pair of jeans, patching a jacket, or repairing a treasured garment, you'll gain practical skills that can help you care for your clothing for years to come.

About the Instructor

This workshop is led by Sarah Culbertson, founder of Sarah Tremain ( a mission-driven apparel brand rooted in healing, local artistry, and community care.) Inspired by her family's legacy, Sarah's work embraces sustainability, inclusivity, and creative reuse. Through workshops and community gatherings, she encourages participants to develop practical skills, build connections, and cultivate a more thoughtful relationship with the things they wear.

A portion of her brand's profits supports organizations serving survivors of sexual violence, and her work emphasizes accessibility, size inclusivity, and community-centered creative practice.
