A Herbal Study – Making Medicine with the Elder TreeSunday 3rd November
2pm – 4pm
Archie Browns, Penzance
£35.00/ £32.50 conc*
The workshop will include a tea circle herbal remedy making workshop for you to take home your own herbal syrup using elderberries and spices!
This workshop is an interactive learning opportunity to connect with the energetics and science of herbal medicine. Centred around an intuitive and sensory plant study, during which a prepared medicine will be tasted by the group.
Ruth guides the group through this sensory process to help engage the innate ability to identify with the plants through the use of the intuition and senses. Learning about the science of taste, which helps us learn how to identify the active chemistry and medicinal uses of each plant.
This exercise offers a unique and personal connection with the information learnt as well as life long skills that enable us to understand the properties of herbs (and also foods) purely through taste!
The group will prepare the herbs to make a decoction (the first step to extracting medicinal properties from the plants) and then a syrup to take home. We will study the elder tree which is native to Europe and offers important medicinal uses for autumn and winter survival.
Essential – bring a note pad and pen + a sterilised jar/ bottle or container (no bigger than 100ml) and a bottle of water.
No need for previous experience or knowledge in the subject, this workshop is suitable for first timers, seasoned herbal enthusiasts and medical professionals.
