Maryam Aslany

Maryam Aslany is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at Ca’Foscari University of Venice and Yale University, and a Research Associate at the African Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. Her work explores the crisis of the global countryside.

Over the last fourteen years, she has carried out field research among agricultural societies in some of the most remote rural landscapes of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Her Audible podcast, ‘Harvest’, produced by Hollywood’s Plan B Entertainment, immersed listeners in the history and politics of India's cotton industry.

Born in Iran, she lives between the UK and France.
