Warneford Park: A campus for brain health and medical research
About this Event
Warneford Hospital has been caring for people’s mental health in Oxfordshire for more than 200 years. It is the oldest inpatient unit still in use across the NHS. A world-class design team, led by Eric Parry Architects, has created a comprehensive masterplan for the Warneford that optimises the site’s potential and reimagines patient care alongside medical research. Warneford Park will provide compassionate, modern clinical facilities while supporting pioneering discoveries in brain health—one of the final frontiers of medical research in the 21st century. The project is a partnership between Oxford Health NHS Trust, the University of Oxford and Ian Laing, a longstanding member of Oxford Civic Society. Drawing on contributions from all three partners, this talk will explore how this “sleeping beauty” in Headington will be transformed, while giving the Grade II-listed hospital building a new lease of life as a graduate college for the University.
