✨ Experience

Before Kolkata lights up for Durga Puja, Maa Durga begins her journey in the hands of Kumartuli’s artisans.

Join us for a cultural walk through Kumartuli, Kolkata’s legendary idol-making quarter. Explore living workshops where bamboo, straw and clay are transformed into magnificent idols of Maa Durga. See idols at different stages of creation, meet artisans where possible, and discover generations of craftsmanship behind one of Bengal’s most celebrated traditions. We’ll also explore the cultural significance of Mahalaya, Pitri Paksha and Tarpan, discover the historic surroundings of North Kolkata, experience the atmosphere along the Ganges, and take a short ferry ride toward Howrah. Along the way, we’ll pause for a cup of local chai and a Bengali snack.
