Adyashakti- A Heritage Baithak on the Divine Feminine in collaboration with Harakutir, Kolkata

Adyashakti is a curated heritage baithak that explores the journey of feminine worship in the Indian subcontinent through a deeply human and experiential lens. The session begins with archaeological evidence from the Indus Valley Civilization, looking at material remains such as terracotta figurines and early representations of the divine feminine. The conversation then moves into the evolution of Shakti traditions, including an introduction to Tantric practices. As part of this, there will be a gentle engagement with Sanskrit mantras and chants, helping participants understand not just their meanings but also the spiritual atmosphere they create. The idea is to make the experience accessible, allowing people to feel the essence of these traditions rather than simply learn about them. The baithak will then shift towards the socio economic dimensions of Durga Puja in West Bengal, before moving into its intangible heritage. This includes lived practices, memory, community participation, and the emotional worlds that surround the festival.
