About this Event
From ancient pigments to modern palettes, makeup has been used for thousands of years to express identity, status, belief and beauty. This illustrated talk by historian Seren Shaw, explores the fascinating history of cosmetics across cultures and centuries, revealing how painted faces have reflected changing ideas about power, fashion, gender and society.
The talk will include a live demonstration, with historical makeup styles recreated on a model, bringing the past vividly to life and offering a rare chance to see how these looks were achieved.
