About this Event
Kendal Town Council’s Events and Civic Officer, Simon Unsworth, will deliver a short and engaging talk exploring Kendal’s rich history and its development into a town of international significance. The talk will trace Kendal’s journey from its early beginnings, through its prominence in the wool trade, to its present-day status as a vibrant and popular Lakeland market town.
From Queen Katherine Parr’s Book of Devotions—handwritten by Henry VIII’s final wife—to the works of renowned artist George Romney, as well as Kendal’s historic charters, Civic Sword, and beautifully crafted maces, the talk offers a fascinating glimpse into the town’s heritage.
This is a wonderful opportunity to discover more about the “Auld Grey Town” and its important place in history.
