Four special tours showcasing the unique heritage crafts which are thriving in the daily life of the Cathedral
About this Event

**Tickets will be released on Wednesday 8th April. **

Tickets are free of charge but spaces are limited.

Although we aim to make our Cathedral as accessible as possible, these workshop tours involves many flights of stairs and will unfortunately not be suitable for those in wheelchairs or with mobility issues.

Thankfully the Wren Centre of Excellence will change this and showcase our heritage crafts. The project is well underway, you can learn more about that project and the support it requires at www.stpauls.co.uk/ways-to-donate.

Tuesday 12th May, 11:45
Visit rarely seen spaces of St Paul’s Cathedral where heritage craft remains part of everyday life. Guided by one of our Masons, you’ll see Portland stone still shaped by hand and step inside the treasure trove of the Carpenters’ Workshop. Along the way, discover our vision to transform these spaces into a world-renowned centre for heritage craft – celebrating traditional skills and nurturing the next generation through new apprenticeship schemes.
Tuesday 12th May, 14:00
High in the Bell Tower, our Broderers carefully care for the Cathedral’s remarkable collection of textiles, ensuring they are ready for use in worship and ceremony. Climb up to their workshop to meet this dedicated team of skilled volunteers, hear about their craft, and perhaps even try your hand at working with gold thread.
Wednesday 13th May, 11:00
Step into the seldom‑seen corners of St Paul’s Cathedral, where the artistry of heritage craft is woven into every day. Led by our Head of Collections, you’ll venture behind the scenes into the Cathedral’s Triforium to view Sir Christopher Wren’s stunning Great Model — an extraordinary feat of 17th‑century carpentry. Your visit will also include Wren’s beautifully refurbished Library and The Model Aisle - home to some remarkable architectural models from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
