Local history course: 2000 Years Around Newbury — An Introduction to the History of the Newbury Area
This is a non-specialist course focussed on the Newbury area, covering a different period each week, beginning with the Romans. It will move step-by-step to the 19th century, introducing a wide range of sources, including books and online material. As a whole it should help to build up an understanding of the Newbury area, with an opportunity to focus on particular villages or topics of interest.
David Peacock has researched, written about and taught the history of West Berkshire and the Newbury area for many years. He is the author of the 2011 edition of The Story of Newbury.
