Asif Illyas is a veteran songwriter, composer, producer and performer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has performed, collaborated and produced for artists such as Gordie Sampson, Alan Doyle, Lennie Gallant, Ria Mae, Cutting Crew, Colin Hay, Paula Cole and many more. He’s an ECMA and Music Nova Scotia Award winner as well as many film festival awards for his work scoring movies for the past 25 years. This past December, Asif released a new instrumental guitar album titled, “Autonomy” to two sold out shows in Halifax. The album contains 9 tracks of percussive guitar where he uses the guitar’s body to play the drums and the bass as well as the guitar; all at the same time with NO loop pedals or fancy gear. Ava Illyas, his 19 year old daughter, has been performing with Asif since she was a baby, and has been performing on stage with her father since she was 9 years old. Ava’s voice has been critically acclaimed with accolades coming from Europe and beyond. Asif has a quickly growing YouTube channel and would love for you guys to get in touch with him there.
