Lifting Filipino Voices: Strengthening Community Connections is an Alaska statewide initiative hosted by the Filipino American Society of Fairbanks to strengthen relationships, elevate Filipino perspectives, and build connections across Alaska.
At the center of this initiative is a Statewide Filipino Leadership Convening taking place October 2–3, 2026, in Fairbanks.
The convening will bring together Filipino leaders and community representatives from across Alaska to:
• Share experiences from different communities and regions
• Identify common challenges and opportunities
• Strengthen connections between Filipino organizations and leaders
• Explore opportunities for collaboration and statewide advocacy
• Help other community stakeholders better understand Filipino perspectives
In addition to Filipino leadership representatives, portions of the convening may include invited public officials, employers, service providers, educators, funders, and other community partners interested in listening to and learning from the Filipino community.
At this time, we are specifically identifying Filipino community leaders and representatives from across Alaska, especially from rural and regional communities, to participate in the convening’s facilitated leadership discussions.
Some portions of the convening will be open to the public. Additional schedule and participation information will be announced as planning continues.
This initiative is hosted by the Filipino American Society of Fairbanks and funded by the Alaska Community Foundation Social Justice Grant.
