Travelling Light weaves together Cohen’s most beloved songs with rare anecdotes, literary excerpts and reflections on his remarkable life. Audiences can expect timeless works including Suzanne, So Long, Marianne, Famous Blue Raincoat, Who By Fire and Tower of Song, alongside poignant material from his final masterpiece, You Want It Darker, released shortly before Cohen’s death in 2016.
Scripted by Cape Town poet and writer Perran Hahndiek, Travelling Light is performed by acclaimed singer and guitarist Dave Starke, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Daniel Zachariah Franks. Their rich, expressive performance captures both the gravitas and humanity of Cohen’s work.
This is more than a tribute concert — it is an immersive exploration of love, faith, longing, irony and beauty through the words and music of a true literary icon.
