On Wednesday, July 8th at 6:00 pm, the Lake Wausau Association will host a special community presentation at Northstar Restoration (4900 Stewart Ave, Wausau, WI 54401) featuring two experts sharing the latest updates on our lake’s fisheries and aquatic plant communities.
Featured Presentations:
Lucas Koenig — Senior Fisheries Biologist, Wisconsin DNR
Lucas will share results from the 2025 comprehensive fisheries survey, including insights on fish populations, recent and upcoming stocking efforts, current regulations, and long‑term goals for the Lake Wausau fishery.
Chris Hamerla — Aquatic Services & AIS Coordinator, Golden Sands RC&D
Chris will provide an overview of native and invasive aquatic plants in Lake Wausau and introduce the purple loosestrife biocontrol program, a hands‑on volunteer opportunity to help protect the lake’s shoreline ecosystem.
This event is open to the public and is a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and get involved in efforts that support a healthy Lake Wausau.
