Water Under the Bridge explores the terrain between harm and healing. Taking its title from the familiar expression used to dismiss the past, the exhibition asks what it actually takes for something to become “water under the bridge.”
For years, I have carried experiences of betrayal, public scrutiny, and the ways narratives can be constructed about a person without their consent. Rather than focusing on the events themselves, this work turns toward the aftermath: the slow and often nonlinear process of moving through grief, reclaiming one’s body and sense of self, and learning how to exist beyond the stories others tell about you.
The bridge serves as both a structure and a metaphor—something built to carry us across difficult terrain. In this work, the bridge is tested, damaged, and rebuilt.
