Part 1 (45 minutes): Introduction to Coffee
We'll begin with an engaging presentation covering the fundamentals of coffee, including:
- The history of coffee and its journey from seed to cup
- How origin, climate, altitude, and coffee variety influence flavor
- The differences between common processing methods, including washed, natural, and honey processing
- How roasting shapes the flavor profile of coffee
- How professionals describe coffee using sensory language and tasting notes
Part 2 (45 minutes): Guided Coffee Cupping
Experience coffee the way producers, roasters, and coffee buyers evaluate it.
During the cupping session, you'll learn:
- The purpose and methodology of professional coffee cupping
- How to evaluate fragrance, aroma, acidity, sweetness, body, balance, and aftertaste
- How to identify flavor notes and compare coffees objectively
- How coffees from different origins and processing methods express unique characteristics
By the end of the workshop, you'll have a stronger understanding of what makes each coffee unique and the confidence to describe and appreciate coffee like a professional.
