All living beings seek to increase well-being and reduce suffering. If you would like an introduction to the teachings that can start you on the path to achieve that well-being and that, if followed far enough, can end suffering altogether, join us.
Join us for an introduction to Buddhist philosophy in the tradition of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The root text for this urban retreat is a highly condensed summary of the essence of the lamrim (stages of the path) teachings, as written in the late 14th century by the Tibetan sage Je Tsongkhapa. In only 14 verses, the Three Principal Aspects of the Path summarizes the essential points of the lamrim, showing the way to obtaining a calm mind and an understanding of reality as it is. The text is a wonderful introduction to the depth of Buddhist philosophy, and opens the door to what can be a lifetime of study and ever-deepening understanding.
Logistics: Class will be Friday December 13th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Saturday December 14th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a break for lunch. The structure will combine teachings with opportunities for group meditation. For those who can attend in person, we will provide water, hot drinks, and snacks; please bring a lunch or a dish to share. Lodging for Friday night is not provided.
