Intro to Onshape 3D Design
About this Event
Intro to Onshape 3D Design
Ages 13–18
In Intro to Onshape 3D Design, students explore engineering, product design, and digital fabrication using Onshape, a professional cloud-based CAD platform. Through hands-on design challenges, participants learn how engineers and designers create 3D models, parts, and assemblies for real-world products and prototypes.
Students will learn the fundamentals of sketching, dimensioning, extrusion, part modeling, and assembly design while developing creativity, problem-solving, and technical design skills. Participants will also explore how cloud-based collaboration allows designers and engineering teams to build, review, and improve projects together from anywhere.
What Students Will Learn
- Introduction to Onshape and cloud-based CAD
- Sketching, dimensioning, and constraints
- 3D part modeling and extrusion tools
- Assembly design and component organization
- Engineering design and problem-solving
- Prototyping and design for 3D printing
- Portfolio development and project presentation
Final Project
Students will design and present an original 3D model or product prototype that demonstrates creativity, functionality, and understanding of Onshape’s design tools.
