Hilbre, Islands as Creative Laboratories

Join us for a delicious scouse followed by an illustrated talk describing the process of restoring the derelict buildings of Hilbre and bringing them back into use as a Centre for Art, Science & Sustainability.

Charting the initial five years of a long-term project to provide sustainable uses for islands heritage structures and respect its special environmental status.

Full of challenges; listed buildings lacking energy, waste and water infrastructure, a SSSI, a Ramsar site, a nature reserve, and at the constant mercy of weather and tides, this context required creative solutions.
