Helvellyn Sunrise Guided Group Hike
Join us for an unforgettable adventure as we hike to the summit of Helvellyn in time to watch the sunrise over the Lakeland fells.
This guided group hike is perfect for adventure lovers and anyone looking to start their day with spectacular views, fresh mountain air, and great company. There's nothing quite like standing on one of England's most iconic summits as the first light of the day spreads across the landscape.
We'll contact you during the week of the hike to confirm the exact meeting and start time. The ascent typically takes around 2.5–3 hours, and we'll time our departure to reach the summit shortly before sunrise, helping to minimise time spent standing around in the cold.
What's Included?
Qualified Mountain Leader
Small group size (maximum 6 participants)
Tea, coffee and pastries on return to the car park
Essential Kit (Mandatory)
Please ensure you bring the following items:
Waterproof jacket
Waterproof trousers
Base layer (wicking T-shirt or long-sleeved top)
Mid layer (fleece or merino)
Warm insulated jacket (synthetic insulation, NOT DOWN)
Hat
Gloves
Water
High-calorie snacks
Rucksack
Head torch
Walking boots or trail shoes suitable for mountain terrain
Recommended Additional Kit
Sit mat
Buff or snood
Spare pair of gloves
Spare socks for after the hike
Hot drink in a flask for the summit
Additional warm layer that packs easily into your rucksack
Additional Information
Parking is currently £8. Public toilets are available at the car park, although we cannot guarantee they will be open at our early morning meeting time.
A minimum of 3 bookings is required for the event to go ahead. If we do not reach this number, you will be offered either a full refund or the option to transfer your booking to another Due North activity of your choice.
As this is a mountain environment, weather conditions can change quickly. While we cannot guarantee clear skies or a visible sunrise, the hike will only be cancelled if the forecast conditions are considered unsafe. If conditions deteriorate during the event, the route may be shortened or altered at the discretion of the Mountain Leader.
Should we need to cancel due to weather or safety concerns, you will receive a full refund.
This hike is suitable for anyone with some hill walking experience and a good level of fitness. Please note that the route involves a sustained mountain ascent of approximately 2.5–3 hours over uneven terrain.
Following your booking, you will be required to complete a participant information form to provide emergency contact details, relevant medical information and previous walking experience. Completion of this form is mandatory before attending the event.
