FLASH CONNECT | August: Hearing, Cognition, and Hormones in Midlife

Sol's monthly event connecting health professionals with the community. Free to attend.

About this session

What do hormones, hearing, and cognition have in common? More than you might think.

This month, Dr. Rebecca Heywood from The ENT Clinic will talk about changes in hormone levels during menopause and how they could affect your hearing.

Hearing health is closely linked to cognition, making it an important part of healthy ageing.

You will leave with a clearer understanding of how what ear-related symptoms can occur during menopause, and practical steps you can take to protect yur hearing.

About the Expert

Dr. Rebecca Heywood is a UK-trained ENT surgeon based in Singapore, specialising in hearing loss, hearing implants, and disorders of the ear. Across a career spent helping both adults and children reconnect with the sounds and conversations that matter most, she has become one of Singapore's leading voices on the connection between hearing and the brain.

Dr. Heywood led Singapore's first research into the link between hearing loss and cognitive decline, in collaboration with NUS and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and is increasingly focused on the relationship between hormones, menopause, and hearing. Through her clinical work, research, and public education, she is passionate about translating the latest evidence into practical advice that helps people better understand their bodies and advocate for their health.

The session will open with a short talk, then move into a walk-and-talk through the Botanic Gardens. Bring your questions.
