This gathering is an evening of community, sacred sound vibrations, mantras, kirtan chanting, and togetherness.

The word Mantra is derived from two Sanskrit roots: manas ‘mind’, and tra, meaning ‘tool’. Mantra can teach the mind to become increasingly absorbed in that which is most essential. The Upanishads tell us that mantras can lead us towards healing, inspiration, transformation & and self-realisation.
"Mantra is a conversation between the self and divinity. All too often, we separate ourselves from the divine, forgetting our truest nature. Chanting the names of God/Goddesses guides us back to a space of remembrance, of faith, devotion and love."

Kirtan - devotional, melodic call and response chanting in Sanskrit.

Calling upon the sacred sound allows your body and mind to absorb its resonance. Come and elevate yourself into a state of joy, unity, and deep connection.

What to expect from this offering:
~Vocal warm-up, Indian scale chanting
~Devotional, melodic call-and-response chanting of mantras in Sanskrit (you will learn the mantra pronunciation and meaning)
~Satsang (sat means truth); therefore, sitting in the company of the Truth, Q&A
~Company of fellow human beings and deepening the connection to your self-essence.
~ Tea and delicious homemade treats

Benefits of Singing + Chanting...why do we do it?

Physical Benefits of Group Singing
- Regulated breathing - Kirtan as a form of pranayama (by causing us to breathe deeply as we sing) -increases the flow of energy/prana throughout the whole system.
- Singing releases endorphins and oxytocin (lessens feelings of depression, loneliness, and even physical pain)
- The brain is charged with positive energy
- Soothes, recharges, and strengthens the nervous system, creating relaxation and releasing stress (lowers cortisol levels in the blood).

- Connection to others; strengthens feelings of togetherness, intimacy

P.S.: I know what some of you are thinking ‘’I can’t sing’’ or ‘’I am not good at singing". Please get over this false illusion as you may be missing out on a lot. We all have a voice– let’s use it. You may start by listening and then humming, eventually progressing, like any other practice.
