About this Event
Stephens Way, Moore Meadow and Channings Drive are all named after farmhands who worked at Mosshayne farm in the 1940s.
Come on a walk with Ella Gent from Mosshayne farm to follow in the footsteps of Stephens, Jack Channings and Archie Moore as we look at historic and present day Mosshayne farm.
We will meet and start our farm walk at the crossroads of Hutchings Drive and Mosshayne lane (What3Words plod.elevates.most). Then we will walk around parts of Tithebarn where hostorically Stephens, Channings and Moore, would have done their farm work. We will talk about what farming looked like in the 1940s and how much it has changed to present day. Ella will bring a Gent family historical records book, written in 1947 and detailing exactly what each worker was doing every day for the year. We will then walk down the farm lane through current Mosshayne fields, looking at the crops growing.
This is a walking tour of the farm, so please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the farm. We will be gently walking for 2 hours, with a pause at the 'Piggery' to meet the pigs.
See you at the junction of Hutchings Drive and Mosshayne lane at 10!
