We are searching for women (aged 70+), local to Exeter, who are interested in helping us with some research. Join us for a friendly and welcoming group discussion, looking back on life in the 1970s.

What's the project?
We are researching women’s experiences in the 1970s around the time of the 1975 Sex Discrimination Act: the law that allowed women to open a bank account without a man’s signature.

We want to explore women’s relationship with money and how it’s relevant today.
What will the event involve?
Our team from Scratchworks Theatre will run a friendly and welcoming session.

We will host a discussion circle where anyone is welcome to share their memories from the 1970s and reflect on how the 1975 Act impacted their lives.

We are aware that talking about finances can be a taboo subject! Part of the project is about overcoming that taboo and encouraging more engagement with financial literacy.

Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.
