Free Mini Japanese Tea Ceremony Experience — PARK(ing) Day at Dupont Street

For PARK(ing) Day Toronto, Gleam Makers Collective and Gleam & Sip are turning the parking lot below Casa Loma into a free open-air art exhibition and community rest space for one weekend.
On Sunday afternoon, two small tea ceremony sessions take place inside the space. Each is 20 minutes, seated, and limited to two guests, so the setting stays quiet and the ceremony unhurried. Our tea ceremony instructor, Rina, prepares a bowl of matcha for each guest and walks you through the movements as they happen — no prior experience needed.
What to expect
· A short, seated ceremony (about 20 minutes)
· One bowl of freshly whisked matcha and a small sweet per guest
· A brief introduction to the utensils and the etiquette of receiving tea
· Open-air setting; seating is at low stools, chairs available on request
Good to know
· Free. Nothing is sold in the space.
· Please arrive 5 minutes early; sessions start on time.
· Suitable for adults and children 12+.
· Step-free access. The lot is level and wheelchair accessible.
· Rain: the ceremony moves under the shade structure; it runs unless there is a weather alert.
Can't get a spot? The rest space is open all weekend, 10am–5pm on Saturday September 19 and Sunday September 20, with works by five local artists, a wish-writing station, and a complimentary matcha or coffee for every visitor.
