Building Confidence, Clarity, and Skill in Your Yoga PracticeFoundations of Flow is a weekly, 1-hour progressive yoga workshop series designed to deepen your understanding of yoga while building confidence and ease in your physical practice.
Led by experienced instructor Judy Faherty, each Monday session focuses on a specific theme—such as Sun Salutations, balancing poses, breathwork and meditation, Chaturanga alignment, chakras, and the intelligent use of props. Each class blends education, mindful movement, and practical application, helping students understand what to do, and how to do it safely with modifications, if needed.
This series is thoughtfully structured to build week by week, making it ideal for students who want a more intentional and informed approach to yoga. While drop-ins are always welcome, participants will gain the greatest benefit by attending the full series as concepts and skills are layered over time.
All levels are welcome. Modifications, props, and options will be offered throughout, making this series accessible to newer students while still offering depth for more experienced practitioners.
Foundations of Flow: Weekly Session Descriptions
Week 1 (2/2/26): Sun Salutations — The Foundation of Flow
Explore the building blocks of vinyasa yoga through Sun Salutations. This session introduces asana as part of the Eight Limbs of Yoga and provides a basic overview of Sun Salutation A and B, including their origins and variations across different yoga lineages. You’ll learn how to modify postures to support your body, build strength safely, and move with greater awareness and intention. The class includes centering, warm-up, guided Sun A’s and B’s with modifications, and a nourishing savasana.
Week 2 (2/9/26): Finding Balance — Stability, Focus & Control
Balance poses challenge both the body and the mind. In this session, we explore asana within the Eight Limbs, with a strong emphasis on modifications, props, and intelligent alignment. You’ll learn how drishti (focused gaze), weight distribution, and hip positioning affect balance. Poses may include Mountain, Eagle, Tree, Warrior III, Half Moon (with wall support), Dancer (with strap), and other single-leg balances. This workshop helps build confidence, steadiness, and focus—on and off the mat.
Week 3 (2/23/26 - NOTE no class 2/16): Breath & Stillness — Pranayama and Meditation
This session shifts the focus inward, exploring pranayama (breathwork) and meditation as essential limbs of yoga. Learn accessible breathing techniques to calm the nervous system, increase awareness, and support overall well-being. Practices may include Loving Kindness (Metta) Meditation, Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), Breath of Joy, three-part breath, and simple guided meditation. This class offers tools you can easily take into daily life to manage stress and cultivate presence.
Week 4 (3/2/26): Chaturanga Confidence — Strength, Safety & Alignment
Chaturanga is a core component of vinyasa yoga, yet it’s also one of the most commonly misaligned poses. This workshop breaks down safe and effective Chaturanga alignment, helping you build strength while reducing the risk of injury. Using blocks, straps, and thoughtful modifications, you’ll explore how to support the shoulders, core, and wrists. The class includes a warm-up, Sun Salutations, and guided practice focused on alignment, strength, and confidence.
Week 5 (3/9/26): Heart & Energy — Exploring the Chakras
In this heart-centered session, we introduce the chakra system and explore how energy awareness can enhance your yoga practice. With a focus on heart-opening poses and preparation for Valentine’s Day, this class blends education with embodied experience. You’ll explore grounding through the root chakra, gentle backbends, and mindful movement designed to create openness, balance, and connection—both physically and energetically.
Week 6 (3/16/26): Propping Up Your Practice — Support, Stability & Ease
Props are powerful tools that can transform your yoga practice. This session explores creative and effective ways to use blocks, bolsters, straps, the wall, and other supports to improve alignment, accessibility, and comfort. Through a slow, mindful flow, Judy will demonstrate both familiar and lesser-known prop variations that support strength, mobility, and relaxation. This class empowers you to practice with greater confidence and sustainability.
