About this Event
Food affects every aspect of life - food growing, supply, access & distribution are a vital part of tackling the UK’s biggest health, social, economic and environmental challenges.
A Food Partnership (FP) is a collaborative network often (but not always) led by Local Authorities and brings together farmers, growers, community groups, social enterprises, cafes, retailers, local councils, businesses, individuals and many more to create a local food system that works for everyone. Across the UK, food partnerships have become a driving force in reshaping local food economies and on 11th May, the Canterbury Society have organised a panel of speakers who will tell us more about what’s happening across the UK and Kent. Join in the discussion considering if an ‘East Kent FP’ is possible and who could lead it?
Speakers:
- Anna Taylor - Chair of Kent FP and Exec Director of the Food Foundation (national)
- Zak Shinwarie - Chair of Medway FP, Health Improvement Project Officer (regional)
- Maya Amangeldiyeva - CEO of Herne Bay Community Support Centre (local)
- Cllr Emily O’Brien -Cabinet Member for Food Systems, Lewes District Council (the role of Local Councils in leading FP's)
All welcome - Free to Members – Donation kindly requested from non-members at the door
Doors open at 6.30pm and Refreshments available
