Nicholas Faunt probably has the dubious distinction of being the only mayor in England executed in his own market square.
About this Event

Sheila’s fascinating talk will explore Faunt’s career in later 15th-century Canterbury. She will explain how and why this ardent supporter of the Earl of Warwick ('the Kingmaker'), Edward IV's right-hand man in the 1460s, came to a grisly end only a few years later – presumably watched by his fellow members of the city's corporation and King Edward IV himself!
