Spike Island welcomes local residents and community members to a relaxed social and collective gardening session this Autumn.
About this Event

Spike Island welcomes local residents and community members to a relaxed social and collective gardening session this Autumn, as we welcome in a new season and prepare our garden for the coming year.

Spend an afternoon outdoors, chat about gardening and art, enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, and contribute to the care of shared green spaces. We invite our local residents to come together and connect over themes of care and solidarity – ideas that were integral to the life and artistic practice of exhibiting artist Beverly Buchanan.

How it works

We’ll meet on the benches outside Spike Island, where you’ll find some Spike Island team members wearing blue lanyards – come and say hello!

What to Expect

  • A friendly, informal space for connection and exchange with local residents and people who work in our local area
  • An opportunity to be creatively inspired by Spike Island’s gallery and studios
  • An invitation to get some fresh air and connect with nature – no prior experience or knowledge of gardening is required.
  • Creative activities and materials available for young children
  • Complimentary tea and coffee

Meet the Team

The collective gardening session is supported by a knowledgeable and approachable team:

Pacha – Operations Supervisor

Saphia – Assistant Curator: Artist Development and Engagement

Beau – Front of House Supervisor
