First Aid for Babies with Dr Shiri Lejay
If your baby was choking, would you know what to do?
It's a question most of us hope we'll never need to answer, but knowing a few simple first aid skills could make all the difference in an emergency.
Join Consultant Paediatrician Dr Shiri Lejay for a practical and informative session designed specifically for parents-to-be, parents, grandparents and anyone caring for a baby.
No previous first aid knowledge is needed.
During the session, you'll learn:
- How to recognise when a baby needs urgent help
- What to do if a baby is choking
- How to perform CPR on an infant
- When to seek urgent medical help (call 999)
- What to do during the critical moments before emergency services arrive
There will be practical demonstrations, opportunities to practise key techniques and plenty of time for questions as well as handouts.
The aim is not to overwhelm you with information. It's to help you feel calmer, more prepared and more confident should you ever face an emergency involving a baby.
Important Information
This is an educational workshop for parents and caregivers. It is not a first aid certification or accredited training course.
Pre-crawling babies are welcome to attend with you.
If your baby needs feeding, changing or a little time away from the group during the session, you're very welcome to step out and return whenever you're ready. We simply ask that, where possible, parents help minimise disruption so everyone can hear and benefit from the demonstrations.
