✨ We are halfway through camp week! Day 3 of the Fa'asamoa Village Life Summer Camp is in full swing at the Mt. View Library.Today, our Intermediate and Advanced students are focusing on technical precision in Siapo painting and intricate corner mat weaving, while our youth practice the leadership skills required to mentor the younger kids.
🍕 LUNCH IS PROVIDED for all attendees.

🗓️ DAY 3: TAUTUA THROUGH ART & EXPRESSION (Wednesday, June 3rd)
Theme: Service and Identity through Creativity (Fa'asinomaga)
Daily Language Goal: Counting by Tens (10, 20, 30... to 100) & Songs 7, 8, and 9
Special Note: Volunteers needed to sit with the younger groups for fine-motor weaving assistance!
🕒 Hourly Activity & Time Schedule
11:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Opening & Vocals: Counting by tens game. Vocal runs and dynamic rehearsal for Songs 7, 8, and 9.
11:30 AM – 12:15 PM
Siva & Fa'ataupati Peer Review: Students break into pairs or small units to practice their dance blocks and give each other feedback on style and energy.
12:15 PM – 12:30 PM
🥪 Lunch Break: 15-minute supervised lunch block.
12:30 PM – 1:15 PM
Handicrafts & Painting: Assembling the Pale (traditional headbands). Decorating the base bands using fabric, beads, or natural materials gathered by the community.
1:15 PM – 1:45 PM
Culinary Arts Integration: Making Sapa Sui (Samoan Chop Suey)! Presenters or parent volunteers demonstrate the browning of meat and handling vermicelli noodles while teaching the culinary terms.
1:45 PM – 2:00 PM
Review & Snacks: Distribution of fresh fruit snacks and refreshing juice.
🎒 Activity Guide & Supplies
Creative Activity: The Master Chef Vocab Game – Children are shown a culinary tool or ingredient and must shout out its Samoan name before the timer runs out.
Supplies to Bring / Wishlist for Donations: Blank headbands or thick cardstock, faux flowers, seashells, beads, hot glue sticks (for adult volunteer use), vermicelli noodles, and soy sauce.
