Dog Rescue: Ace of Hearts Volunteer Opportunities

Below are some of our volunteer opportunities:
Standby Volunteers:
Our standbys always save us & the dogs! At the end of the week, we’ll reach out to see if you have any free days to be our “first responders” for any last minute emergencies. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a “call in case of an emergency” list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almost always requires some driving. We try very hard to plan things in advance, but if there is a last-minute opportunity to save a life, get a dog adopted, or have a foster emergency, it helps to have a handful of people we reach out to first!
Freedom Ride Volunteers:
We rescue dogs from shelters all over California and volunteers are always needed to pick up dogs from the shelter. Some of these shelters are so bad, that if we do not pick up the dog the same day we tell them we are pulling, the dog will be euthanized. Yes, sometimes the shelters are far away, but this is the time when you actually get to save a life! Shelters in SoCal we rescue from are in the Los Angeles Area (ie San Pedro, Downey, Gardena, Simi Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Long Beach), San Diego, and the Inland Empire!
Transport Volunteers:
Our fosters are giving our dogs round the clock attention. However, if something unexpected for their foster dog comes up, we need to coordinate transportation for our dogs. Whether they need to get to a vet appointment, meet and greets with potential adopters, dropping supplies off, getting to our Adoption Event, etc., our Transport Volunteers are doing invaluable work for our pups!
Dog Walking Volunteers:
Sometimes, our dogs can get a bit excited during their walks, around other dogs, or getting their leashes on. When you help out, you’re giving fosters a piece of mind by being there are support during their walks, or filling in when our fosters have schedule changes. If you’re available to hang out with a dog regularly, or every once in a while, it means a great deal to us!
Fosters!
We're always in need of long-term fosters (30 days or more) and emergency fosters (for a couple of nights). We provide all of the supplies that they need, you just need to provide love and support for these stressed-out shelter dogs. If you are interested in either one please let us know ASAP!
Doggy Chefs Needed!
Our foster dogs receive home-cooked food to supplement their kibble. While we'd love to feed 100% home-cooked, we just can't afford it, but, we can supplement with a yummy topper. Let us know if you would like to prepare food and we will send you the simple recipes and reimburse you for the ingredients! Food just needs to be dropped off in Pacific Palisades or at Petco during an adoption event.
Events:
All of our adoption events are held at the West Hollywood Petco (508 N. Doheny Dr. 90069) from 1-6pm. We'll need lots of help with transporting dogs to and from the event, setting up, giving treats and water to the pups, donations, walking dogs, etc. If you’re part of a group, the minimum age is 18 years. Let us know if you're able to attend.
