Please note there are two tickets: one for the virtual event on Youtube on Saturday Sept 12th and the in-person event on Sunday Sept 20th.
Come enjoy the world premiere and book launch party of a new immigrant rights anthology BUTTERFLIES OVER LAND: Voices and Visions Resisting Anti-Immigrant Terror. This book includes a mix of genres, from poetry to nonfiction personal essays and short fiction. The events offer a conversation about immigrant rights from Southern California and nationwide.
Our guest readers include co-editors Jen Cheng and Camille Hernandez, with award-winning contributors José Enrique Medina, Pallavi Dhawan, José Rios, Nancy Lynée Woo, Yash Bhutada, Jean Trinh, Daniel Mayeda, and others TBA.

From poetry to personal essays, this anthology responds to anti-immigrant terror with people’s authentic perspectives of survival and hope. The collection is curated by Jen Cheng and Camille Hernandez, two Poets Laureate and daughters of immigrants from Los Angeles and Orange County.
Butterflies Over Land: Voices and Visions Resisting Anti-Immigrant Terror has themes of resilience, migration, lineage, protection, grassroots education. It also shares priorities of activism, and voices from the frontlines (public school teachers, direct social service providers, and others serving at-risk populations). By featuring views from a wide variety of activists to immigration experts, this anthology provides a critical view to shape the future remembrance of this time.
