Dog Life Drawing is for art lovers and dog-loving friends: a traditional life drawing class with a playful twist - the model has four legs, a furry face, floppy ears, wet nose and wagging tail!
Draw the canine model, from quick sketches to longer observational poses, exploring form, structure, appearance and expression in a fun relaxed artist’s studio. With teaching and guidance from fine artist, Estelle Lovatt FRSA. Looking at composition, tonal values and colour details.
Through playful drawing techniques, capturing the pet’s personality and movements, as the dog moves naturally - wriggling, stretching or striking a pose! It’s all part of the pawtrait fun, excitement and relaxation of our lovely friendly dog model. With ‘Puplo Pawcasso’ made comfortable and safe throughout the session, enjoying attention, gentle interaction, cuddles and treats (of course!).
To finish, you can show your artwork with the group, in a friendly supportive review. And win a prize, in the playful ‘Dog Model’s Choice Award’, as voted for by the pawsome Dog model, who started with understanding “sit” and “lay down” before moving on to ‘hue’, ‘focal point’ and ‘perspective’.
More than a unique art class, this pup-crawl is a joyful, inspiring creative experience where painting, mindfulness and canine-charm come together.
Suitable for all skill levels, this is the perfect creative event for you to celebrate the special bond between us and the Dog Model fur-riend.
Beginning with a short art history image-illustrated look at dogs by Old Masters and Contemporary Artists, including Constable, Freud, Hockney, Kahlo, Lichtenstein, Manet, Picasso, Rembrandt and others. Pictures of dogs to transcribe too.
Bring your own painting and drawing materials for personal use. Fixative, hairspray or painting solvents are not permissible. Oil painters should use a non-toxic, odour free alternative solvent.
Some paper, pens and pencils provided for free.
Complimentary tea, coffee and chocolate.
