Increase your curiosity and understand the similarities and differences between insect and bird life cycle.About this Event
The Discover 4-H series of workshops is an engaging program designed to introduce youth to the wide range of opportunities available through 4-H. These hands-on, interactive workshops cover various topics, including science, agriculture, arts, leadership, and more, allowing participants to explore their interests while building valuable skills. Open to youth ages 5-7 and 8-10, this program allows for creative knowledge and skill development in a supportive and fun environment. Whether participants are new to 4-H or seasoned members, the workshops provide a platform for learning and personal growth, while emphasizing the 4-H motto of "Learning by Doing." Join us each month as we explore a new topic:
April 17th : From Eggs to Wings and Feathers
This educational program introduces youth to the fascinating life cycles of butterflies and chickens. Participants will learn how a butterfly transforms through stages of egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult, and how a chicken grows from an egg into a chick and then an adult hen or rooster. Through hands-on activities, observation, and discussion, students will discover how animals grow, and change. This program encourages curiosity about nature while helping youth understand the similarities and differences between insect and bird life cycles.
Please note that there are two age groups for each workshop (5-7 and 8-12)-make sure to select the correct section when completing the registration form. All programs will be held at the NC Cooperative Extension office located at 120 Community Way, Barco NC starting at 5:30 pm and ending at 7:30 pm.
All participants must also be enrolled in 4-H Online for the 2026 program year; the link to that portion of the registration process is https://v2.4honline.com/.
